Crewkerne 10K 2012 Permit ARC 12/76
New race for this, the Olympic year, is a certified accurate 10 kilometre road race. We hope this will prove popular with a wider range of runners. The route will be slightly less hilly and will loop through Merriott with it's easier access for spectators. Business Challenge, junior & Senior Fun Runs are unchanged. Sunday May 20th. If you live near Crewkerne, you will be able to enter in person on the preceeding three Saturdays in Falkland Square, where you can collect your number and Race Information. EVENTS.
Crewkerne 10K 10 kilometre senior race for ages 15 and over on race day. See entry form for categories. Team declaration is not required as 1st 4 men or 3 ladies count. Junior Fun Run, Senior Fun Run/Walk and Business Challengs.
This is approx. 5 kilometres out to the first drink station at Shutteroaks Cross and return.
Juniors age 14 and under, seniors age 15 and over on race day.
JUNIOR TEAM ENTRIES: BOYS: Teams of 4 GIRLS: Teams of 3 Age (Boys & Girls) 14 years and under Junior Teams must be declared on a Team Entry Form by 9.30am on Race Day. Forms are available from the Enquiry Desk on the day or in advance by request.
Business Challenge team form must be completed. Available on this site.
LATE AND CHANGED ENTRIES Late entries can be accepted on the day subject to the conditions printed on the Entry Form. (£1 EXTRA - except for Juniors under 14 yrs.) If you wish to change between the long & short courses YOU MUST RE-ENTER, returning your original number. No entry fee paid will be refunded, but it will be credited against a higher fee due.
RACE NUMBERS: 10 kilometre Race - Black numbers on white 5 kilometre Junior Race / Fun Run & Walk – Black numbers on red band If you have pre-entered, but do not yet have your race number, probably because you did not include a stamped, addressed envelope with your entry, collect from the entries desk on the day. Numbers must not be folded or mutilated, must be clearly visible and worn on the FRONT of your running vest throughout the event. Safety pins available from the Enquiry Desk. CAR PARKING: There are ample public car parks (free on Sundays) signposted in the town. No parking in The Square or town centre streets.
CHANGING FACILITIES: Changing facilities (no showers), toilets and room to leave kit will be available in the Town Hall. Kit is left at owner’s risk.
Crewkerne 10K On the Day Information
START: 10 kilometre race – 10.00am. PROMPT – in Abbey Street - follow signs. 5 kilometre Junior Fun Run / Fun Run & Walk / Business Challenge– 10.05am – outside Victoria Wine in the Square Please assemble in Market Square and do not stray onto the main road which will NOT be closed. 10K runners will be directed to the start at 9.55am approx. Slower runners please keep to the back of the start area. 5 kilometre runners and walkers should assemble outside Victoria Wine at 10.00am RACE ROUTE: The 10 kilometre race starts in Abbey Street and turns right at Shutteroaks at approx 2.5K – proceeds to Merriott and Hinton St. George, left at the Hinton St. George crossroads and then left by the woodyard and return to Crewkerne. The 5 kilometre route starts in Market Square and goes up Abbey Street to Shutteroaks, turns round a marker and returns. ALL RUNNERS KEEP TO THE LEFT OF THE ROAD approaching the Shutteroaks junction. Drinks stations will be at Shutteroaks Cross and Hinton St. George. The west side of Market Square will be closed to traffic. FUN RUN & WALK: If you are walking, you are likely to meet and/or be overtaken by runners on the course. PLEASE DO NOT OBSTRUCT THE PATH OF THE RUNNERS IN ANY WAY. KEEP ANY DOGS ON A SHORT LEAD AT ALL TIMES. IF YOU HAVE BEEN PASSED BY SENIOR RACE LEADERS, PLEASE OBEY ANY SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS FROM MARSHALS AT THE FINISH MEDICAL/MARSHALS: The Red Cross will be in attendance throughout the event. There will be marshals around the whole route, yellow arrow direction signs and distance markers. FINISH in Market Square: AFTER CROSSING THE FINISH LINE KEEP MOVING TO THE END OF THE FUNNEL IN THE ORDER THAT YOU FINISH, where your number tag will be removed. DO NOT MOVE OUT OF THE FUNNEL BEFORE THE TAG HAS BEEN REMOVED. PLEASE DO NOT APPROACH THE FINISHING LINE OR GO THROUGH THE FUNNEL A SECOND TIME UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES. RESULTS: Full results for 10K & Junior races will be available on the web at www.crewkernerc.btck.co.uk or by post for 50p by leaving a self-addressed C5 envelope at the ‘Enquiry Desk’. Provisional results will be posted in the Square on the day if possible.
